Joan Russell will discuss ‘Teacher professional learning’ at PDA Annual Conference, Thursday 21st
Joan was a Principal of a Vocational School for three years before being appointed as Education Officer to Co. Cork VEC in 2005. She was appointed as CEO (Acting) of Co. Cork VEC in 2010 and fulfilled that role up to the amalgamation of Co. Cork and City of Cork VECs in July 2013. She was then seconded from CETB to work as Project Officer for Instructional practices and is currently Education Research Officer with ETBI. Her current research is focussed on teacher professional learning and she will share her initial findings at PDA Conference 2024. Joan was a member of the Teaching Council 2012 – 2016 and a member of the National Council for Special Education (NCSE), 2010 – 2015. Joan has a keen interest in professional development. PDA welcome Paul Fields (ETBI) to facilitate panel discussion at PDA Annual conference
PDA is delighted to welcome Paul Fields to facilitate a panel discussion with speakers Gary O Donnachadha, Dr Anthony Malone and Joan Russell at 12 noon on Thursday 21st. Paul is an accomplished educational leader with a career spanning over two decades in various roles within the Irish education system. He is currently serving as the Director of Schools for ETBI (Education and Training Boards Ireland), a role he has held for nearly five years, following a successful tenure with the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (ETB). Throughout his career, Paul has served in various other capacities, including as a School Principal, Guidance Counsellor, Coach, and Teacher. His wide-ranging experience gives him a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities faced by schools and educators.
Meet Gary O’Donnachadha at PDA National Conference, Thursday 21st November
PDA is delighted to welcome Gary Ó Donnchadha to National Conference. Gary is one of two Deputy Chief Inspectors in the Department of Education and Skills. Gary has strategic leadership and oversight of evaluation support, development of data systems and data collection and analysis, data policy and data management in the Inspectorate. He also has responsibility for Inspectorate communications, induction and continuous professional development and the Section 29 process. Full Conference Schedule
Jonny Cooper – speaker at PDA Conference Friday 22nd November
Professionally, Jonny Cooper is a Director in Steering Point Advisory, working with various organisations, teams, leaders and elite performers. He previously spent 3 years working in a Big 4 consultancy firm leading people and culture programmes. Academically he has obtained an MSc in Work and Organisational Behavioural Psychology (specialising in Trust and Leadership), a BSc in Sports Science and Health, a Diploma in Executive Coaching, and a Diploma in Leadership. Dr Anthony Malone will address delegates at PDA Conference
On Thursday 21st, Dr Malone will address PDA delegates at National Conference. Anthony is an Associate Professor in the School of Education, Maynooth University. He is Programme Leader for both the Future Leaders programme. He led significant curriculum design, reform and implementation at Maynooth University and was Course Leader for the PGD in Educational Leadership; the PGD in Education; the M .Ed and the M.Ed. Lorraine Gilligan, LEARGAS, at PDA Annual Conference
PDA Annual Conference welcome Lorraine Gilligan is the Executive Director of Léargas, the National Agency for EU programmes, providing funding to the education, training, sport, volunteering and youth sectors. Lorraine has almost 30 years of professional experience across many iterations of European programmes for learning and mobility and has a unique insight into the transformational value of these experiences for participants, educators and schools.
